Please be advised of the following on-campus contractor work during winter break.
- TKE elevator will be working at Fine Arts, Creative Arts, and HSS starting Monday, 12/20/21 through 1/21/22. They will be on campus (12/27, 12/28, 12/29, 12/30).
- ACCO and Quality Air Service will continue cleaning air ducts in Creative Arts, and HSS during the week of 12/20 and they will be on campus (12/28, 12/29, 12/30).

Contractor Work - HSS Duct Cleaning | Sunday, December 5, 2021 - January 31, 2022

Facilities is working with contractor ACCO Engineering to perform duct cleaning services in the HSS building. We expect to start on Sunday, December 5, 2021, and we anticipate completing this project by January 31, 2022.
ACCO will be provided with campus keys, and Facilities will partner with the Building Coordinator, Samantha Ward for access to any special rooms.
The contractor will work on campus during the following times listed below.
- 11:30 am – 7:30 am, Sunday evening through Friday morning.

Road Closure | Between Ethnic Studies & Psychology, and Gym | Wednesday, 12/1/2021 - Friday, 12/3/2021

The road between Ethnic Studies & Psychology and Gym will be closed and unavailable starting tomorrow, Wednesday 12/1/2021 - Friday, 12/3/2021. Facilities crews will be on-site working with a 3rd party contractor (Drain Busters) to excavate a portion of the sidewalk, in order to restore the domestic hot water, and central heating to the following buildings:
- Gymnasium
- Ethnic Studies & Psychology

GYM, EP, CY, UPD, Shipping & Receiving, Procurement - Domestic Hot Water, and Central Heating unavailable

A leak was discovered in a domestic hot water line, and facilities staff is actively working on repairs. Due to this unforeseen circumstance, the domestic hot water and central heating will be unavailable in the following buildings:
- Gymnasium, (Building, Showers, Pool)
- Ethnic Studies & Psychology
- Corporation Yard
- UPD
- Shipping & Receiving
- Procurement
Facilities is working to resolve this issue as soon as possible, but there is no eta at this time. Cold water will not be affected in the above listed buildings. Additional updates will be provided once available.

Update on the Fuel Cell Removal Project

The fuel cell removal crane malfunctioned. The contractor will try again to remove the fuel cell on Wednesday, 11/24, starting at 6:00 a.m. The crane and fuel cell are currently blocking a portion of South State Drive near the fuel cell. Pedestrians, carts, vehicles, and fire vehicles can pass the crane and fuel cell. APEX will secure the area again tonight, 11/23.
A portion of Lot 19 and South State Drive near ECEC is closed off for the contractor vehicles.

Please be advised the University is working with PG&E to remove the fuel cell behind the Gymnasium, near Cox Stadium, on Tuesday, 11/23/21.
The South State Drive access in front of the Gym, facing Cox Stadium, near the press box, will be unavailable Tuesday, 11/23/21, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Contractor Work - Creative Arts Duct Cleaning | Today, Monday, November 15, 2021 - Early-January 2022

ACCO will be provided with campus keys, and Facilities will work with Aaron Benn, and Chris Morring for access to any special rooms.
The contractor will split their work into two shifts and will be on campus during the following times listed below.
- The main duct cleaning work with little exception, will be performed from Sunday – Friday 11:30 pm – 7:30 am.
- Only roof and mechanical room work, away from students will be done during the day from Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Business - Domestic Hot Water, and Central Heating shutdown | Monday 11/8/21 - Wednesday 11/10/21

Facilities has scheduled preventative maintenance service on the boilers for the Business building on Monday, 11/8/21 – Wednesday, 11/10/21. There will be no central heat, or domestic hot water during this time period. We anticipate to restore central heat and hot water by Friday, 11/12/21, and further updates will be provided as they are available.

Library ADA East-Side doors - Out of service

The ADA doors on the east side (near Peet’s Coffee) in the Library are out of service. The doors have been secured and labeled with caution tape. For alternative entry and exit ADA options, please use the doors on the west side basement level, as well as the doors on the south side facing Holloway.
A service call with UCAL has been scheduled to determine the extent of the repairs and order parts, as necessary.

Facilities Weekend Work | Business, Saturday 10/16/21 - 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Plumbing and BSE crews will be working on restoring the central heating system to the Business building on Saturday, 10/16/2021 from 6:00 am – 12:00 pm. Work will be on the west outside and basement mechanical room of the building, which will consist of purging air from the natural gas lines. Outside work area will be safety-coned off – the west passageway, across the front of building, will be closed.
Facilities is working with Building Coordinator Janet Remolona to ensure that all windows in the Business building are closed during the above listed times, and we have confirmed that there are no classes scheduled in the Business building on Saturday, 10/16/2021.
Please note that during the above listed times, there may be minor smell of natural gas. Facilities crews will be on site to safely monitor the situation.

Facilities is working with Contractor, UCAL, to replace a broken window in the Business building. In addition the quad between HSS and BUS may be blocked with a lift.

In order to prepare for the Fall 2021 Semester and the return to campus, Facilities has scheduled to turn on the gas in the following buildings on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 8 a.m.:

- Gym

Facilities has identified a leak to a suction valve in the Gym 121 swimming pool. As a result of this leak, the swimming pool has been shut down temporarily for additional troubleshooting and repairs. Unfortunately we do not have an estimated time to complete this repair.

Please be advised that SBAY Construction’s sub-contractor 7M will excavate South State Drive near Five Corners to look for underground utilities on Friday, 05/21/2021, Monday, 05/24/2021, and Tuesday, 05/25/2021, between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The contractor will keep one lane of the road open during the excavation and surveying work.

April 13 - 30, 2021: SFSU Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspections

The Fire and Life Safety Manager David Abordo and vendor (Ace Fire Equipment & Service) will be conducting annual fire extinguisher inspections. Please be aware the inspections are throughout the entire campus. We will be checking for outdated fire extinguishers and replacing them as needed. Inspections will occur between Tuesday, April 13, 2021 through Friday, April 30, 2021 during regular business hours of 7 a.m. - 4 p.m..
The vendor is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday April 13th at the Corporation Yard.
All inspection staff will be wearing personal protective equipment and adhere to on-site campus vendor protocols.

March 30, 2021: Campus Monthly Generator Testing, 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Facilities Services is required to conduct mandatory monthly testing of generators and automatic transfer switches. This month’s test will take place on Tuesday, 03/30/2021 between 7 a.m. - 8 a.m..
Testing is performed to simulate a power outage and to make sure buildings switch over to emergency generator power.
Testing may cause a brief loss of power for a fraction of seconds in the buildings listed below:
- Old Admin (computer room)
- New Admin
- Creative Arts
- Humanities
- Library
- Thornton Hall
- Hensill Hall
- UPD/Corp Yard
- Student Health Center
- Portable Generator (not hooked up to any building)
- Cesar Chavez Student Center

- On 02/23/2021 and 02/24/2021 between 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., they will be working on the courtyard between Business and HSS
- On 02/25/2021 and 02/26/2021 between 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., they will be working on the trees directly behind the Corp Yard shops. The road behind the shops will be closed and restricted for travel on both days

A leak was discovered in a domestic hot water line leading to Waste Management. Due to this unforeseen circumstance, the domestic hot water will be shut off immediately to complete the necessary repairs. The domestic hot water will be unavailable in the following buildings:
- Corporation Yard
- University Police Department
- Parking and Transportation
- Shipping and Receiving
- Procurement
- Waste Management
Facilities anticipates resolving this issue by Thursday, February 25, 2021. Central heating and cold water will not be affected. Additional updates will be provided once available.

February 18 - 19, 2021: Burk Hall - Contractor Roof Work

Facilities has scheduled service with a 3rd party contractor (Western Roofing) to replace the roofing membrane and gutters for the Burk Hall penthouse on Thursday, 02/18/2021 and Friday, 02/19/2021 between 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.. A boom lift will be on-site between Burk Hall and the Student Health Center and should not impact walkways or any paths of travel.

February 3, 2021: Hensill Hall - Cold Water Outage, 3 p.m. - 12 a.m.

A domestic cold-water shutdown is scheduled for the GYM on Saturday 9/25/21 from 6:00 am – 12:00 pm. This shutdown is needed, to allow for repairs to a toilet in GYM T117.
